The weekend's round at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin saw Dean Fiore and his Triple F Racing FG Falcon have some great pace throughout both qualifying sessions and the two races on Saturday and Sunday at the Northern Territory track.

Dean qualified 14th for Saturdays' 100km race, just a mere four tenths of a second separated the top 15 cars in the session, but a few racing incidents cheated Fiore of a top 15 finish for the race.

"Qualifying went well for us on Saturday, it was good. Our race pace was good enough for a top 15 finish, but we got caught up in a couple of incidents with both Murphy and Alex Davidson which cost us about 3 spots each. It was unfortunate that we got pushed off the track as we had good pace in the car," Dean commented.

Dean qualified in 19th position, ahead of Sunday's 200km race where each car was allowed the use of one set of the soft tyres at any stage throughout the race.

"We qualified well again, as we were only two tenths of a second off 8th position. We were reasonably content with our pace also. We just thought we had to do something different in terms of using the soft tyre option as most people weren't starting on them. We got caught up in an incident with Dumbrell which cost us a few spots also. We found that the time to be gained on the softs wasn't maximised as we were too busy passing people on the track and not gaining on the clock so to speak. In hindsight, we should've used them later in the race," Dean said.

The next round of the Championship moves to North Queensland for the Sucrogen Townsville 400  from 9-11 July, where younger brother Todd will also be competing in the Fujitsu Championship.
